Swimming pool opening and weekly service

swimming-pool-opening-crossville-tn

Time for swimming pool openings has arrived in Tennessee! Everyone is ready for sunny days and swimming inside a sparkly clean pool. Superior Pool Service is busy handling openings, filter cleanings, water chemistry, and repairs. This post is designed to give an idea of what you can expect with Superior Pool Services.

Our pool opening starts with removing debris from your cover as well as your surrounding pool deck. We want the pool cover clean in order to limit debris and filth from entering your pool water. We remove the cover and fold in a manner which allows for easy re-installation come closing time. Then the anchors surrounding pool are oiled and ran flush with pool deck. Pool is inspected for any issues which may have arisen over the winter months. Once inspection is complete we move to the equipment area and inspect your pump, filter, heater, and any further pool operating equipment. Most pools in this area of Tennessee are operating using sand filtration. Residential chlorine sanitized pools can typically operate 5-7 years before needing sand changed. Biguanide sanitized pools need yearly sand changes for optimal performance. Sand changes are time consuming and require removing all the sand from filter tank, inspecting internal laterals, washing thoroughly and reinstalling correct amount of filter media. We will discuss when the last filter cleaning and media change was performed and make decision as to proceed with opening or handle the filter cleaning at this time. Once filter is ready for water circulation, move to install plugs and caps in equipment, then lube and inspect o-rings and gaskets. Then the pool returns are opened as well as skimmer lines and circulation is started. Many times motors will be seized up from setting all winter long without operation, this does not mean that a new motor is required necessarily. Superior pool service technician will inspect and hopefully get the impeller turning freely again. Once impeller and motor is running properly, water circulation will begin.

If bottom of pool is visible, then pool opening includes vacuuming any silt that made its way through the mesh cover to waste. This will greatly help in attaining clean and clear water soon as possible! Water chemistry is very important to personal health as well as life of equipment. Superior Pool Service uses FAS-DPD testing which is recommended and preferred by industry professionals. You can expect a reading of the waters current alkalinity, ph, calcium, cya, and salt if applicable. Advice can then be given on what is needed to balance the pool water. Proper water balance is the key to having a clean and clear pool along with proper cleaning of pool surface itself.
